Our mission is to take our students and develop divergent, creative thinkers and problem solvers. Educators will foster student achievement through: Cultural expression, flexibility for differentiation and accelerated rigorous intensive instruction.

Vision

The Visual and Performing Arts Theme of Nueva Vista Magnet will be implemented with fidelity and commitment in order to introduce all of our students to cultural awareness and inclusion through creativity. Our program reflects and emphasizes the demographic diversity of our community.

Information about the Magnet Program

Nueva Vista Elementary Visual and Performing Arts Magnet is a 3^rd-5^th-grade program Our teachers are dedicated to the Visual and Performing Arts Theme. Our program also has a strong parental support and involvement. Our program consists of 149 students. We are the only program of its kind that services the cities of Bell, Huntington Park, Cudahy and Maywood.

As a magnet program we have students who travel from all over Los Angeles to attend our program. Our program focuses on Visual Arts (Beginning and Advanced), Dance Choreography, Drama and Music Appreciation, Voice and Orchestra. Students receive a rigorous academic instruction in all core subjects. Students in the program participate in mixing rotations the first semester. During the second semester students select the emphasis they prefer and remain there for five months until they perform in their respective groups.  Mixing occurs two times a week.

Teachers and staff focus on providing all our students the tools needed to be successful and competitive in all areas. Our motto is College begins here!
